Interview prep for Punjabi speakers targeting United Arab Emirates

Your Punjabi → English grammar tells

Punjabi speakers sometimes drop 'is/are' ('She a nurse') — keep the linking verb. Also watch 'doing-doing' reduplication and 'only' / 'itself' as emphasis (common across South Asian English).

UAE interviewers notice these patterns even when they cannot name them. The fix is mechanical: read your answers aloud, mark every instance, and rewrite using short sentences and 'I' rather than 'we'.

United Arab Emirates interview norms

  • Directness: Indirect initially, relationship-building before business
  • Formality: Very formal, titles important, dress code strict, respect for culture
  • Time orientation: Relationship and trust before results

What UAE employers listen for
