Common mistakes for non-native speakers
In Qatar, interviews often start with a friendly talk. Answer each question fully. Your results can come later in the talk. The evidence you give is the same; only the order changes.
- Instead of "Sorry, sorry, it is not my fault": say: "I am sorry about that. Let me sort it out for you now". A manager may listen for calm ownership, not for who is to blame.
- Instead of "I am good with people": say: "On a busy Saturday, a guest's room was not ready. I offered a seat and a drink and called housekeeping". A short real example shows the skill instead of naming it.
- Instead of "Yes" when you did not understand an order: say: "So that is two coffees, one with oat milk?". Checking back is normal in hospitality and avoids mistakes.
- Instead of "I can work anytime": say: "I can work evenings, and Saturdays and Sundays". Exact days and hours help the rota manager plan.
