Sentence starters for a marketing interview

Fill in the gaps with your own work. Simple English is fine.

Tell me about a campaign you ran

The goal was … for … (the audience). I chose … (channel) because … My part was … The result was … (a number), and I learned …

A campaign that did not work

We expected … but we got … I looked at the data and found … We changed … quickly. Next time, I would test … first.

Common mistakes for non-native speakers

In the UAE, interviews often start with a friendly talk. Answer each question fully. Your results can come later in the talk. The evidence you give is the same; only the order changes.

  • Instead of "The campaign went viral": Say what you did, on which channel, and what you measured. A hiring manager may listen for your part and your results.
  • Instead of "I am creative": Describe one idea, why you chose it and what you learned. One idea with a reason is easier to judge than a word.
  • Instead of marketing buzzwords: Explain the idea in one plain sentence first. Plain English may show you understand the idea.
  • Instead of "I did social media": Say which platforms, how often you posted and who the audience was. Detail shows the size of your experience honestly.
