Common mistakes for non-native speakers
In the UAE, interviews often start with a friendly talk. Answer each question fully. Your results can come later in the talk. The evidence you give is the same; only the order changes.
- Instead of "I am a good seller": say: "A customer needed…, I suggested…, and they bought…". A sales manager may listen for the customer's need, not only the sale.
- Instead of pushing hard in a role-play: say: "Can I ask what you use now, and what you would like to change?". Questions first often sound more professional than pressure.
- Instead of "I hit my targets": Say what the target was about and what you did each week to reach it. The method is easier to believe than a claim.
- Instead of "No" to an objection: say: "I understand. Can I ask what worries you about it?". It keeps the conversation open.
